Appointment Of Metering-as-a-service Provider/s For The Water Utilities Corporation Of Botswana, To Install, Operate, Maintain Smart Meters, Related Services, Data & Communication Networks, In Designated Geographical Areas Throughout Botswana.
Objective & Overview
Water Utilities Corporation, An Innovative Water Utility, Is Embarking On A Transformative Journey Through The Installation Of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (Ami) Across Botswana. It Aims To Partner And Collaborate With One Or More Service Providers, To Offer A Metering-as-a-service Solution, The Ultimate Aim Of Which Will Be To Ensure Water Resilience, Whilst Improving Its Service Offering To All Customers.
Brief Synopsis of Scope of Work
At this stage, it is envisaged that the responsibilities of the Metering-as-a-Service provider will include, inter alia1:
• Purchase, install, operate and maintain approximately 450,000 AMI meters over a period of up to 15 years, along with associated infrastructure and data and communication networks, across the entire country.
• Installation will include the removal and / or relocation of existing meters.
• Supply WUC with accurate data on a timely & regular basis for all identified revenue generating meters, to enable accurate and efficient management of customer accounts.
• Create a Meter Operations Control Centre (MOCC) for the Metering-as-a-Service provider, that would seamlessly communicate with WUC%s National Operations Control Centre (NOCC). The MOCC should have an interface desk with WUC through which all queries, work orders or performance management issues would be channelled.
• The Metering-as-a-Service provider will raise its own capital and be paid for the services rendered in alignment with the contracted conditions.
