General procurement notice for Mozambique - malawi regional interconnector project
The project will include the following components
Mozambique-Malawi Power Transmission Infrastructure
Sub-component 1-A: Construction of the Transmission Interconnector and Associated Substation in Mozambique
142 km of 400 kV transmission line; extension of existing Matambo 220 kV substation; construction of new 220/400 kV, 500 MVA substation at Matambo; installation of 220 kV transmission line connection between the new 220/400 kV 500MVA substation at Matambo and the existing Matambo 220 kV substation
Sub-component 1-B: Construction of the Transmission Interconnector and Associated Substations in Malawi
76 km of a 400 kV transmission line; extension of the existing Phombeya Substation
Technical Assistance and Capacity Building
Sub-component 2-A: Technical assistance and Capacity Building in Mozambique
Project Management, including safeguards supervision, mitigation of GBV risks, and implementation of a gender action plan; transmission network and system operations related training
Sub-component 2-B: Technical assistance and Capacity Building in Malawi
2-A activities plus market dev. studies to identify scope and contractual arrangements for additional capacity on the line; future options for PPP in regional transmission projects
