Tenders are invited for Research project - DZSF - Technical feasibility study for crack detection in prestressed concrete railway sleepers using methods of non-destructive testing
The aim of the project is the evaluation of different methods of non-destructive component testing for the detection of open and hidden cracks in prestressed concrete railway sleepers, which are suitable for later further development for use in test trains or alternatively in test trolleys. For this purpose, the technical feasibility of various test methods that are theoretically possible is systematically examined. The focus is both on estimating the detection probability that can be achieved and on evaluating a possible automated use of the process in test trains, i. H. Properties such as contacting, test time per threshold and other general conditions. In addition, this project is also intended to research how the aging of the concrete sleepers takes place in practical use, through which mechanisms cracks develop and develop, and at which points in the sleeper body this happens preferentially.
In this project, the basis for a follow-up project is developed, in which the most suitable method or methods are tested with a practical demonstrator, economically and technically fed into a suitable maintenance concept, and integrated into existing maintenance processes.
