General procurement notice for Component 2: (National): Development of agro-sylvo-pastoral and fisheries value chains This Component will support the production and productivity of Findi, rice, and vegetables using the value chain approach, through capacity building of both small-scale producers and farmer groups, it will also facilitate market access, enhance entrepreneurship for income generation and sustainability with the ultimate objective of building the resilience of the beneficiary communities. It will also support the quality seed production through the institutional strengthening of the National Seeds Secretariat, the capacity of seed growers and provision of storage facilities and supporting entrepreneurship for marketing and sustainability services.
The Project 2 of the Programme to Strenghthen Food and Nutrition Insecurity in the Sahel (P2-P2RS) primary objective of the P2 P2RS is to contribute to the improvement of living conditions and food and nutritional security in the Sahel. Specifically, it aims to i) increase, on a sustainable and resilient basis, productivity and agro-sylvo-pastoral production in the Sahel, ii) increase incomes from agro-sylvo-pastoral value chains and iii) strengthen the adaptive capacities of populations through better control of climate risks. The promising priority sectors that could be supported by the P2-P2RS are maize, rice, sorghum/millet, fonio, market gardening, ruminant sheep /goat farming, fishing and fish farming. The project will contribute to water management for the benefit of the rice, market gardening, livestock, and aquaculture sectors.
